I'M THE BOOGIE MA-HANNN
It has officially been an evening of rock. After having lunch with my parents, getting groceries, and checking out the Arts in the Park festival I practiced, hung about, and went to hear some rock music in the Underground. (For those of you who don't go to CMU, it's a restaurant in the basement of my dorm. Certainly nothing swanky. But free. Yes.) All things considered, the music was enjoyable. I have such a hard time figuring out if I like something just because it sounds great live. The first two bands were really energetic and full of rock. I mean, whether I would like them on an album is hard to say, but they were fun to watch. Miroslav, being former CMU students, were kind of the main attraction. Well, not all of them exactly. I have an insane rockstar crush on the bassist, Nate. He's almost free of pretense and he's a solid singer and bassist. If Miroslav is ever famous, I'll be wanting his trading card. Dig?
Almost immediately afterwards I listened to the Girls practice in the drill deck. Dave went over to check it out, too, and it was a good time. They (the Girls) have been sounding great. I can't really put my finger on it, but that's fine. They sound great all the same. I was surprised how excited Dave was about their cover of Suzanne because he's expressed so much anti-Weezer sentiment for the entire time I've known him, but apparently Suzanne is his favorite song of theirs. Plus the Girls play it like they just bought it a milkshake and winked at it. Exactly like that. Especially with Aaron's backing vocals. I dare anybody not to swoon.
