CALLS ME ON THE PHONE, TELLS ME ALL THE WAYS THAT HE'S GONNA MESS ME UP
First of all, for those of you who weren't aware, Adam C. Atkinson wins the Best Boy Ever Award for extreme bravery and sweetness in the face of absolutely insidious difficulty, random sadness, and ennui. And general shit. So, Adam, congratulations. Good luck on that nomination for the Hottest Boy Award, by the way!

Yesterday I flew into Washington, D.C. at 7:15 AM and back home at 7:30 PM. That's right, I'm flashing you my JET SET card right now. We had a meeting with various members of the US Post Office staff regarding our redesign of the change of address form. The meeting itself was fine, and I felt perfectly comfortable discussing things with all of these government workers, even though I was coughing and sniffling through the whole thing. Well, whatever. Doing all of that travelling was the last thing I wanted to do, but I got a lot of sleep the night before and felt a lot better. Also, I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing the clouds from the window of a plane, no matter how stuffy my head is.

Does anybody know of a cough suppressant that doesn't make you really shaky and jittery? Right now I'm taking Delsym, and as well as it works, it makes me feel either really sleepy and out-of-it or really nervous and shaky. Tremors suck, suck, suck. They make me feel so old, too. But things are fine if I just sit tight and don't do much of anything. Lucky for me that work is pretty much a long day of inactivity. Well, I actually walked to work this morning and felt fine, so there you have it. I won't stay sick for long.

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
1. What should the girl gang be called? Also, what kinds of matching tattoos and jackets and such should we have? I think satin baseball jackets are the way to go, but I could be wrong.
2. Dye hair darker brown or lighter blonde?
3. This.
4. How can the great word of the dance party be spread across town? How does one get hipsters to dance?
5. I've been seriously thinking about getting a tattoo of a typewriter on my upper bicep. Thoughts, thoughts?
6. Do you prefer space drug pulp scifi or seedy detective fiction scifi?
7. What's a good name for an insidious space drug?

SUCH A PLEASURE TO IMPLY
Toronto was lovely. Everybody told me it was going to be so clean and peaceful, which it wasn't at all. Of course, we only saw the downtown area, but it still felt a little unlike other huge cities. I think that's because there are few huge-ass skyscrapers blocking the sky. I mean, acre-wise, the place is just huge, but it all feels pretty spread out. I would love to go back some time and see more. And not get sunburned. (I have a V-shaped sunburn on my chest from waiting in front of Sam the Record Man for Greg to show up. Why is it V-shaped? Because, being the perpetual contrary girl that I am, I wear cardigans at all times! And you cannot change this about me! Even if it's really fucking hot! So there. And now I'm paying the price. Whatever.)

Tried out some nice beers, saw a lot of crazy people, applied makeup in the hotel room while listening to Elvis Costello (this time it's This Year's Model because my copy of My Aim is True is still caught in Adam's cd player) turned all the way up on the headphones, listened to "Wolf at the Door" about a bazillion times, and like that.

I've realized that my happiness depends on balancing a string of nonsequiters so that they equal more than their total parts. For example: the last night we were in Toronto I was waiting around a bit to see if Greg would call after the B-step show, drinking cold decaf coffee, and watching the part of Gimme Shelter in which the Hell's Angels beat up whomever is giving them dirty looks in the crowd. In a hotel room on a Sunday night in Toronto. Now, any one of these thigns would have been unpleasant (at least mildly so) by themselves, but all together I was feeling alright. I think this is my new life philosophy, but I'll have to think it over first. More later.
