THE YEAR 2003 CAN TOTALLY KISS MY ASS.
Why, you ask? Here's why:
1) Pitchfork gave the Rapture the holy "album of the year" crown. Over Deerhoof, no less.
2) I spent 45 minutes dancing to booty rap in my pajamas today, and that just fucking rules.
3) I got an A in my grad-level African American Diaspora in Transnational Expressive Cultures class. And I was the only undergrad/person under 24 in the class. Fucking AMEN.
4) I've lost two pounds so far. Like, just since I've been home. Feel like doing some more dancing.
5) There was too much drama this year. Just too, too much. I'm letting it all go.
6) It's wintertime, and it won't be spring until 2004.
7) My classes next semester will not drive me crazy, will not drive me crazy, will not drive me crazy.
8) It sucks to be lonesome when you know that you enjoy being on your own but feel lonely neverhteless.

I won't try to spin this '03 hatred any further than that; there were actually plenty of good things. For example:
1) I held three jobs the entire summer (sometimes working 70 hours a week) and now I know that I can do that.
2) My group of friends solidified into this wondrous, fun as hell group of people who are always around and up for anything.
3) I finally have a group of girlfriends (Megan, Rachel, and Carolyn) whom I love to death. Having girlfriends is so wonderful. It's all about dancing to the Clueless sountrack and sneaking into bars, my friends.
4) I feel like I'm really getting somewhere in my writing. Poetry only deepens and accrues more meaning to me, and I feel really good about what I'm writing.
5) I continue to get props for my trombone playing. Which is always nice.
6) The Bloody Doves.
7) I've finally learned how to drive safely and well in the snow.
8) Because of all that reading I had last semester, I can read almost three books a day, no sweat.

Yeah, so that's all really good. But 2003 is almost over. But 2004? I'm going to rock it.

DO YOU MISS ME YET? BECAUSE I SURE MISS YOU.
It's really quiet in the country, and really easy for me to forget that I'd ever lived anywhere else. That's a bit of an overstatement, but I feel as if the thoughts that float through me are much quieter here than they ever could be in Pittsburgh. This could be because I'm alone most of the day. Call me crazy.

Some of the pitfalls between me and me getting anything done include: the narcotic effect television has on one if one hasn't seen it in a long time, listening to all of my old all-state band cds, knitting, and the books recommended to me by all of my darling friends. Is it too soon to write a letter if it's only the day after you said, "goodbye?" Yes, I know it is.
