HOLD MY HAND, WE'LL TRAMPOLINE
I have this idea. I'm going to move into the country and live with a few good friends. I'm going to make all of my clothes, screenprint and embroider and knit and recycle and wear. I'm going to eat so many whole foods and raise lambs, and dress up to go to the market. I'll do community theater and teach and play music with my friends in the basement. Does this make me sound like a big hippie? Probably it does. And it probably wouldn't necessarily change my life a whole lot. But it sounds nice, doesn't it? Isn't it useful if it gets me through a grey, rainy day like this?
I've also been thinking about this in reference to my ideal living situation next year. The campus is setting up a co-op, but hopefully our little house will be a lot like that, just not university-sponsored. That's the ideal, at least. I'm so anxious to move out of my little, dusty room and be around my people all the time. Cook with them, listen to music with them, just sit on the porch or whatever. Maybe it's bad to idealize something so strongly, but maybe I can't help it. Get ready for the porch sing-alongs, the boardgame nights, the ongoing art projects, the Sunday morning crossword, and the Super Bowl parties, the fancy cocktails and the games of Uno on the front porch. I want to clean the kitchen with you, baby.
