Wow, do I ever feel like a bright-eyed and civically-minded nerd today: I sent in my absentee ballot AND received my 2007 Phi Beta Kappa membership card in the mail, all at once! I'm leaving out the part where I put a shiny apple on the teacher's desk, but not the part where I make a wisecrack about Platonic ideals during my academic advising session. (True or false: Sarah has reached her saturation point with regards to new ideas and long reading lists and everything she has always loved about school.)
I was a little overzealous when I darkened the circle next to Murtha's name on the ballot, because I seriously freaking love him. I don't love Casey that much, except for the fact that he is the opposition to Rick "Crazypants Tolkein Reference/Outrageous Homophobe/Thinks Radical Feminism Destroyed the American Family" Santorum. I am anxious for Santorum to stop pretending he lives in the state of Pennsylvania. He can just GET THE HELL OUT.
Well, the instructions on the ballot say, "Vote confidentially, alone in a room," so I did that, but I also put on Patti Smith to celebrate the occasion. Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine.
