HOLD ME BABY, THINK I'M ABOUT TO LOSE MY MIND
Some instructions: 1) go to pitchforkmedia.com 2) look to the left of the screen for the pitchfork newswire 3) read headline: "Pixies to reunite for tour in April 2004, new album possible." 4) cry glorious, glorious tears for your salvation.

Holy fuck. My favorite band. Is getting back together. There may be new Pixies albums, ones that I haven't heard every song from yet. The Pixies the Pixies the Pixies! Okay, I have to get myself together because I'm at work right now. But sweet lovely world!

THIS IS MY FOUR-LEAF CLOVER
Wow. I just got back from one of those rambling nights of conversation that everybody's always saying is the epitome of college. Megan and I went to campus to get some articles that she has to read for her class tomorrow, but we ended up just walking around because the wing that has her professor's office in it was locked for the night. Instead we walked around campus, ate in front of the university center, and ran into people. And we covered all the ground there is to be covered. Well, not all, exactly, but a lot of stuff about how much our senses of self-worth are tied up in academics, how we're freaked out about only having four classes each this semester, what kinds of other things we want to do with our free time (like having a radio show! having a darkroom in our house!) and how those things have value even though we don't receive quantitative evaluations of our work in them. Also, why we like Pittsburgh, what needs to change about CMU and the town itself, how people become friends with each other, what makes certain departments better than others, what constitutes serious study of a topic, and all the other oblique things in between. (Scarf-tying techniques, for instance.)

The weekend was pretty nice. I spent a lot of time reading, cleaning my room, and doing laundry, all of which make me feel pretty darn productive. Also, Adam and I went to Zen Garden for lunch, and that's always great. It's good to have some things like this to take the sting out of Sundays, which have always been pretty difficult days for me to deal with. But still, it's going to be fall soon and that's hands-down the best time of the year for doing anything, even moping and listening to records in your room.
