on the last blogger page i made some smarmy reference to "recognizing tropes in your daily life" which i haven't been following through with lately. but did you know that "blog" is itself a trope? a portmanteau is a word made of two previously existing words (like every word in "jabberwocky," more or less, and a lot of lewis carrol words.)

i sold two of my books (psychology and that shitty book about hippies) for $40. yeah. i'm almost certainly going to spend it all at paul's on friday.
i also put in a huge order at pander , my favorite of all zine distros. at least now i'll have something interesting to read when i get home to bland old greene county. i mailed a zine to ian (hopefully for a mixtape trade, which, from what i know about ian, will be great.) i happened to read the official definition of a suspicious letter in zine world today: incomplete address, lots of tape, etc., and that describes my letter to him exactly. (i don't know his last name, so it's addressed to "ian c.", and i was reusing a manila envelope that had previously been ripped open, so i had no choice but to use a lot of tape . . . .)
best of all, i found out that i got the job working at bill deweese's office over the summer, and i have an interview for the summer literacy program (re: BOOKMOBILE!) on monday. i'm going to make it after all.

the global climate treaty exercise was insane. my group (china) immediately formed a coalition with iraq and started to formulate plans for walking out of the treaty. i guess you can attribute that to james, who's going to be a politician someday. he was clearly just having fun creating confusion between different delegations. it was fun for a while, but i'm still glad that we left without trying to bang out a treaty. now my jury on thursday is the only thing i have to worry about.
i cut my own hair again yesterday. i have no idea why my luck is so good with haircutting; i basically take a chunk of hair in my hand and cut it off. (we're talking big chunks, here, too.) it looks a little more trendy than i would like it to look (in that short in the back/long in the front way) but i should be glad that it looks ok at all.

oh yeah. if you still need to satisfy your blogger fix, go to dave's blog and ponder the titles of his posts.
TODAY HAS BEEN A DAY OF UPHEAVAL
ram and i were going to go to manchester today, but i felt bad that i hadn't successfully given blood yet, so i asked that we give blood first. once we go there, though, i started to chicken out and i was suggesting we leave. i stuck it out, though. the nurses told me that my veins are too small. i guess i appreciate their honesty because the last time i tried to give blood i stopped bleeding before i had finished up the bag and they tried to roll the needle around to get me bleeding some more, which just left me with a big bruise. i felt like my body was wimping out on me again. they gave me some oragnge juice and a cookie even though i didn't really do anything; for a while i was feeling really calm.
also, i was supposed to go to the manchester craftsman's guild this afternoon to hear the recording session for slide hampton's world of trombone. every great trombonist was there and i was dying to see it, but i had the adamsons on friday and a jazz minor concert on saturday. on sundays it turns out there are no buses to manchester.
after a little wallowing i went to scobell to drop off an jug of cranberry juice the blood bank people gave us. aaron showed us some of the disgusting neo-nazi computer games that were on the web, and then we climbed up on the roof of hammerschlag to llisten to the steel drum band practicing below. it turned into a nice day.
