POWER, CORRUPTION, & LIES*

Because my governor's school experience has been so difficult for me to chronicle here, I've decided to make another attempt by using lists. Here we go.

Things I Bought On My Day Off Yesterday
Interview Magazine
Yoko Ono: "Plastic Ono Band"
1 pair white high heels
1 polyester dress with close-up photoreal print of butterfly wings
1 big black belt
1 yellow CAPRI polo shirt
1 small chain and heart necklace
4 bottles of Wegmans seltzer
2 bottles of San Pellegrino
1 stenography notebook
4 cans of tuna
1 pack of Camel Turkish Golds

I like lists because they illuminate the conflicts in a person's interior life; Joan Didion often writes about her packing lists for journalism traveling; she has all kinds of inclement situations figured in (mohair throw, bottle of bourbon) but always forgets to bring an alarm clock. I imagine this list is very similar, but I don't know how, exactly, that is.

*I am not referring in any way to the working situation here at the governor's school; I'm only referencing a New Order album I've been listening to alot lately.
