on the last blogger page i made some smarmy reference to "recognizing tropes in your daily life" which i haven't been following through with lately. but did you know that "blog" is itself a trope? a portmanteau is a word made of two previously existing words (like every word in "jabberwocky," more or less, and a lot of lewis carrol words.)
